Record target stone or wood character, colour families, print scale, gloss and tactile finish. Large-format stone effects should be assessed at a size that reveals repeat, direction and the appearance of adjoining panels. A small attractive swatch can conceal a repeat pattern that becomes distracting across a commercial wall. Select a focused initial palette with a clear role for each decor. A coherent entry range, core range and premium surface offer is easier for a distributor to position than numerous near-duplicate options. 02 ## Keep the surface reference separate from the board The same decorative reference may be developed on dense SPC, an ABA layered panel or a rigid PVC construction. That creates opportunities for a connected collection, but it does not transfer structural, fire, water or installation evidence between those products. Record the film reference and the finished construction as two linked approvals. ABA describes the offered A–B–A layered architecture, rather than a universal certified material standard. Where an interior product is sold as WPC, check its composition instead of assuming that the name identifies wood content or a particular core. PVC- and SPC-labelled wall panels can share PVC and calcium carbonate in different proportions. Formulation and panel architecture determine the actual product; the market name alone does not establish stiffness or flexibility. 03 ## Compare controlled samples instead of catalogue photographs Request sample sets against the same reference and inspect them under consistent lighting. Compare colour, print scale, surface texture and gloss alongside lamination quality, board flatness and edge finish. Include joined panels and the proposed corner or trim detail. Photographs remain useful for discussion, but exposure, lighting and screen settings make them a weak final colour standard. For a multi-construction range, create an explicit matrix showing which decors and finishes are approved on each board. An empty cell should remain an open development item rather than becoming an assumed option on the sales sheet. 04 ## Use the production network with a specific brief China's materials and component manufacturing base is relevant context for decorative-product development. That broad policy context does not establish the quality, capacity or price of an individual panel supplier; those questions belong in the product and factory assessment. This protects the commercial identity of the collection as volumes grow and avoids discovering during replenishment that a familiar decor name now refers to a visibly different panel.
