# Keeping a collection consistent across production origins

A change of production origin should begin with the collection you have already built. The decorative-film network across Vietnam, Thailand and China helps retain that visual direction, while a controlled sample process confirms how it appears on the new finished product.

01

## Define the collection's visual identity precisely

A decor name is useful for selling, but it is a weak manufacturing reference on its own. Retain the film code, print reference, colour target, scale and direction together with the accepted surface finish. For wood effects, note grain character and plank-to-plank variation. For stone effects, consider vein scale, repeat and the intended relationship between adjoining panels.

Identify which of those elements define the commercial collection. A buyer may accept a measured surface development while requiring the same colour family and print, or may need a much tighter match for an established product code.

02

## Use the film network as the starting point

Relationships with decorative-film manufacturers in all three sourcing markets help trace an existing reference and develop production options around it. This can reduce the need to restart a collection from unrelated catalogue samples when the preferred manufacturing origin changes. The shared core portfolio also allows the decor discussion to stay connected to the buyer's flooring and panel requirements.

Confirm the reference available to the proposed route and document any development required. Similar names and visually close catalogue images should not silently replace the agreed film identity.

03

## Approve the finished surface on each construction

The same print can look different after lamination, coating and texturing. Core colour, surface gloss, embossing, bevel and processing can change the overall impression. Review the completed product under consistent lighting beside the retained master. Use more than a single cut sample where print variation or large-scale repeat is important.

A common decor on SPC flooring, an ABA wall panel or a rigid PVC board is a visual relationship, not technical equivalence. Construction, application evidence and installation requirements remain specific to the product. Surface continuity cannot carry a fire classification or wet-area claim from one build-up to another.

04

## Agree what an acceptable difference looks like

Turn subjective comments into an approval record. Identify the comparison sample, viewing conditions and accepted differences in colour, texture, gloss and print scale. Where the programme uses measured tolerances, agree the method and limit before relying on the number. A colour reading by itself will not explain every difference a customer sees in a textured surface.

Keep physical masters with clear codes and revisions. Photographs can record the decision and help remote discussion, but screens and lighting make them unsuitable as the sole final colour standard.

05

## Keep change control active after the launch

A collection can drift during replenishment even when its origin remains unchanged. Agree which changes require approval: film source or revision, coating, texture, core, profile, line or packing. Connect the accepted first-production reference to the specification and inspection plan. When another origin is added, compare it against that controlled record and identify the new route in the batch or product system. Continuity then becomes a repeatable buying process rather than a promise that every future board will look identical.

## Buying questions

### Can the same decor continue when manufacturing changes country?

The film network provides a practical starting point for doing so. Confirm the actual reference and approve the completed board on the new route, including any accepted visual differences.

### Does a matching film make two finished products identical?

No. The core, coating, lamination and texture influence appearance, while construction and application evidence remain product-specific. Retain both film and finished-product approvals.
