A defined material claim
State which component contains rPET, its measured or documented content and whether the basis is mass of that component or of the whole product.
04 / Recycled-material directions For the trade
Develop a flooring programme around a defined recycled-PET construction. Start with composition, recycled-content evidence and the complete wear system, rather than a green label.

rPET means recycled polyethylene terephthalate. In a flooring programme, that can describe a material component rather than the composition of the entire finished board. The core, decorative layers, wear surface and backing must each be identified.
Our rPET programmes serve distributors looking beyond conventional rigid-core materials. We define the recycled-content basis, source traceability and the performance required in your destination market before final range approval.
A recycled input does not automatically make a finished floor recyclable through local collection systems. Environmental statements should distinguish recycled content, production recovery and an actual end-of-life route.
State which component contains rPET, its measured or documented content and whether the basis is mass of that component or of the whole product.
Wear, indentation, stability, connection behaviour and installation requirements need product-specific evidence, just as they do for other flooring platforms.
A useful quotation starts with the construction and the intended market. These are the decisions we work through with your product team.
Prepare your specification ↗| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Composition | Core, surface, decorative layer, backing and any PVC-containing components. |
| Recycled content | Percentage, calculation basis, pre-/post-consumer source and evidence. |
| Performance | Relevant tests, intended use and installation requirements. |
| End of life | Actual collection and processing route in the destination market. |
| Commercial status | Construction, formats and supporting evidence agreed before range approval. |
Questions from product teams
No. Confirm the material source, which layers contain it and the documented proportion. Do not transfer a component story to the entire floor.
Only if the complete composition supports that claim. A PET core alone does not establish the materials in the wear layer, decor, adhesives or backing.
