Identify the core
Specify whether the board is foamed or microcellular, single-layer or co-extruded, and how the face and back support it.
Core / Lightweight construction For the trade
A lighter rigid-core platform developed through the core construction. Compare density, layer structure and mechanical performance before building a Light SPC programme.

Light SPC, often abbreviated to LSPC, describes lightweight rigid-core construction. Microcell or foamed-core approaches reduce density within the material; the precise formulation and layer arrangement depend on the production platform.
This is different from milling grooves into the back of a conventional board. A quotation should identify the actual construction, not use lightweight, Liteback and LSPC as synonyms.
For a distributor, the weight discussion needs to include connection strength, indentation behaviour, dimensional stability and loading efficiency. A lower density is a design characteristic, not a complete statement of quality.
Specify whether the board is foamed or microcellular, single-layer or co-extruded, and how the face and back support it.
Evaluate full boards and assembled joints. Confirm the intended use, test evidence and product-specific installation limits.
A useful quotation starts with the construction and the intended market. These are the decisions we work through with your product team.
Prepare your specification ↗| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Layer structure | Actual core and skin construction, including any co-extruded layers. |
| Density and mass | Target density, tolerances and measured weight per square metre. |
| Mechanical performance | Connection, indentation and stability evidence for the chosen range. |
| Logistics | Carton weight, pallet loading, protective packing and handling. |
Questions from product teams
No. The description does not define one standard recipe or density. The production specification should state the exact platform and its supporting evidence.
No. A carbon claim needs a defined assessment and supporting evidence. Reduced mass alone does not establish the complete environmental impact.
