Technology and execution
A recognised platform does not replace checking the actual profiled board. Material quality, tool condition and tolerances still matter.
Connection / Product engineering For the trade
Unilin, Välinge and i4F describe technology platforms, not interchangeable board specifications. Select the actual profile, installation method and production route for your collection.

The joint holds a floating floor together. Its performance depends on geometry, material remaining around the profile, machining accuracy and the construction being profiled. Selecting a technology provider is the beginning of that decision.
Angle systems, fold-down systems and herringbone-specific connections solve different installation problems. Some use an additional locking component; others use a profiled one-piece connection. Long-edge and short-edge behaviour should be reviewed separately.
We compare systems with the factory against your board thickness, core and intended format. Sample approval includes connection behaviour, opening, height difference, packaging identification and installation instructions.
A recognised platform does not replace checking the actual profiled board. Material quality, tool condition and tolerances still matter.
Confirm the manufacturing entity, exact technology, material category and target market. Keep the agreed profile and its documentation in the product approval record.
Explore the possibilities
Go beyond the category name. Explore the constructions, connections and finishes that shape your collection.
Explore Unilin connection options for rigid-core flooring, including the Unizip route to single-plank herringbone.
From straight-plank connections to 5G herringbone systems, the installation concept needs to fit the range.
Connection geometry, installation workflow and core construction belong in the same conversation.
A useful quotation starts with the construction and the intended market. These are the decisions we work through with your product team.
Prepare your specification ↗| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Long edge | Angle-in or the selected alternative; opening and engagement tolerances. |
| Short edge | Angle, fold-down or drop-lock method; any locking insert. |
| Pattern | Straight plank, A/B herringbone or a compatible universal system. |
| Board construction | Core strength and material around the profile at the specified thickness. |
| Delivery | Profiled approval sample, instructions, tooling controls and licence confirmation. |
Questions from product teams
Not necessarily. Profile versions, dimensions, material tolerances and production tooling can differ. Mixing brands or ranges requires explicit compatibility confirmation.
No. The manufacturing and product scope must be checked for the actual programme. Technology references here explain options; they are not a claim of blanket authorisation.
