01
Set the commercial hierarchy before collecting options
Decide what the opening range must achieve for the distributor: a dependable core offer, a design-led upgrade or a specialist format that opens another channel. Assign a role to each product rather than adding every available board. A standard plank, a long plank and a premium embossed surface should have a reason to sit together in the collection.
Use the intended selling price position, application, format and installation proposition to build the hierarchy. Then connect each level to its technical specification and minimum order structure.
02
Separate format from installation architecture
Herringbone is a layout category, not a single locking specification. An A/B system uses two plank types with an order and stock balance to manage. A universal-plank system uses a different installation architecture that must be confirmed on the proposed product. Review the actual assembly method, installation instructions, starter details and packing presentation for each option.
Long planks also need their own full-board evaluation. Do not approve handling, flatness, joint appearance or finished layout only from a short cut sample. The larger format should earn its place through the finished product, not simply a longer dimension on the price sheet.
03
Specify what makes the premium product premium
Write the surface proposition in observable terms: decor, print variation, gloss, embossing, bevel and the intended relationship between texture and grain. Confirm the actual construction and supporting evidence separately. A premium label should describe the agreed product rather than imply unverified durability or suitability for every application.
Lightweight SPC options need the same discipline. Identify how the proposed core differs, which performance requirements apply and what evidence covers it. A weight reduction is a specification choice to assess, rather than a substitute for a complete technical record.
04
Compare production offers within that structure
China's broad materials and component base provides context for range development. A government-reported October 2026 industrial-foundation plan includes basic materials and core components; it does not verify a floor supplier's quality, pricing or capacity. Those need direct assessment against the programme.
Give candidate production routes the same product matrix. Compare sample quality, specification fit, evidence, quantities per decor, packing and approval timing within each range level. Record proposed deviations clearly so a better price cannot conceal a different board or a less complete offer.
05
Keep the collection connected as it grows
A shared palette can link standard planks, herringbone and premium formats without making them technically interchangeable. Retain the film references and approve the finished appearance on each construction and size. The decorative-film network across China, Vietnam and Thailand also supports future origin choices. Begin with a focused range that has clear approvals and replenishment logic, then add formats when they serve a defined commercial need.

Buying questions
Should every decor be offered in every SPC format?
Only where demand, production quantities and finished-sample approval support it. A controlled range matrix is more useful than implying that every colour, surface and format combination is available.
Does one locking brand identify the same installation across the range?
No. Confirm the specific system, profile and applicable product documentation. Standard planks and herringbone can use different architectures even when technologies come from the same licensor.
